Give Thanks

Are you good at writing thank you cards? I use to be. No gift was ever received without a thank you card voicing my thoughts of gratitude. For the past couple of years though, I have gotten out of the rhythm and it has really bothered me. Each gift received has left a nagging voice in my head that I need to express my thanks. A spirit of gratitude is something I want to instill in Liam but how can I teach what I am myself not modeling?

So in comes this project. It is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Five words that come to mind when I see it:

1.  Bright
2.  Vibrant
3. Thoughtful
4. Happy
5. Functional

A case to hold all of the cards that need to hold thoughts of thanks or love or best wishes. I just makes  me want to sit down and write. A little pouch that can hold a notebook for addresses and notes, a set of cards that I am currently working on, a pen and some stamps. A pouch I can take around with me whenever the inspiration overlaps with a free few minutes. I was originally inspired to create a little pouch from Amanda's gratitude wrap . I altered her design by doing patchwork on the front cover. Little 2.5 squares leftover from a previous project for loved ones of mine. Fitting if you ask me because it reminds me of those that I love and the words of thanks that I have for them - that I need to express to them. I am so happy to finally have this project off the WIP list and in use.  I am off to go and write a few notes with that yummy cup of coffee in my picture since Liam is still sleeping.

Happy Friday everybody! Oh! Aren't those cards so cute? I picked them up at Trader Joes when I was last in California. They were only a dollar a piece!

  4. It is just precious, and a great idea. I love to send and receive written notes, so I may just make something like this for myself and put my fountain pen in it, too.

  7. How wonderful that you are not letting the art of writing thank you notes die. It seems that fewer and fewer people bother to write them. What a lovely way to store your cards. It's like giving yourself a present each time you write.

  9. This is beautiful. I love the hand-stitching on the front. I made something similar for my daughter a few years back and it held a notebook and 8 coloured pencils. I created it specifically for a long plane ride in hopes it would keep her busy over the Atlantic. It did and has been keeping her busy ever since! She pulls it out on a regular basis and is proud to take it everywhere. I thin the colour and "prettiness" of it inspires her to draw and write. Amazing. That is even better than I planned! ( I agree about Thank-you cards. We don't send them enough - but isn't it wonder to receive them? I must try to send more!)

    1. I am in the works of making my little boy something similar. He is getting interested in coloring - and he has his own book and crayons that he uses for church... so I've been wanting to make him a special little case. I love that your daughter uses her regularly. Isn't it wonderful when handmades are loved so much?
